Hi, I’m Dr. Joanna Lee. I was born and raised in Castro Valley, California, and have always enjoyed working with children. I’ve had the opportunity to travel abroad to Mexico and Honduras on humanitarian trips, which deepened my passion for service. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of California San Diego, then earned my dental degree from Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine.

I began my career in private practice in San Jose, where I discovered how fulfilling it is to make a meaningful impact on a child’s overall health by addressing oral health early and helping prevent future dental issues. That experience inspired me to pursue additional training through the NYU Langone Pediatric Dental Residency in Hawai’i, where I served communities across Oahu, Maui, Lanai, and Hawaii Island.

In my free time, I love hiking and am always thinking up new arts and crafts projects. I’m excited to bring my energy and experience to the office and look forward to providing personalized care that meets each child’s unique needs.

I want to give a big 5-star shoutout to Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry!

On June 27, my child had a fall and injured his teeth. Our family dentist recommended we visit a pediatric dental emergency clinic for further evaluation, so we went to Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry—and I’m so grateful we did.

From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff, Angela, showed genuine concern upon seeing my child’s swollen face. She quickly registered us, took photos, and immediately communicated everything to the doctor. Dr. Pooja Rattan responded without delay, asking us to stay in the office for a thorough examination.

I want to sincerely thank Dr. Rattan for her exceptional care. She was not only highly professional but also deeply empathetic. At the time of the injury, my child also had an acute sinus infection, and Dr. Rattan took the time to examine him carefully and rule out any complications. She was incredibly attentive, answered all of our questions patiently, and didn’t miss a single detail—no matter how small. Her dedication and integrity were remarkable. She is a truly angelic and noble dental professional, and we felt so lucky to have her care.

I also want to give a special shoutout to nurse Josie. Throughout the visit, she was calm, patient, and extremely supportive. She coordinated everything, comforted my child, and went above and beyond by organizing all the medical documents on the spot for future follow-up. Josie is one of the most compassionate and responsible medical professionals I’ve ever encountered. Her presence made a real difference!

Lastly, I’d like to recognize Angela and Jennie at the front desk. Angela was incredibly detailed and helpful during check-in, and Jennie later showed just as much kindness and care during a follow-up visit. Every person we interacted with—doctor, nurse, and front desk staff—deserves the highest praise.

These incredible individuals—Dr. Rattan, Josie, Angela, and Jennie—truly represent the best in pediatric dental care. Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication should absolutely be recognized. I genuinely hope Just Kids considers a well-deserved salary raise or rewards them for their outstanding service—they’ve more than earned it.

Honestly, Just Kids stands out because of its outstanding team. I hope the clinic recognizes their contributions and rewards them—they truly make a difference!

Update:
I went to Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry yesterday, July 18th, to have my child’s damaged tooth extracted, and once again, I was deeply impressed by the care we received. I especially want to highlight Nurse Gali—she truly amazed me.

As always, Dr. Rattan was professional, friendly, and reassuring. She successfully and smoothly completed the extraction with great skill.

Gali was not only highly professional but also incredibly gentle and engaging with my child. She quickly won my child’s trust and kept the atmosphere light and comforting. She even customized a movie just for him to help him feel at ease! In addition to assisting with the extraction, she also performed two dental sealants and explained each step in a way my child could understand. She listened to him patiently, respected his thoughts, and handled every little detail with such care. Thanks to her, my child was much more cooperative than I expected.

Also, a shoutout to Andrew at the front desk—he was excellent and helpful throughout the visit.

Just Kids is incredibly fortunate to have such outstanding staff members. They absolutely deserve recognition—and I sincerely hope the clinic considers giving them a promotion or a raise. They’ve earned it through their dedication and exceptional care!

We had our first visit to Just Kids Pediatric Dentistry yesterday and absolutely loved it! My sons are 9 and 10 years old, so when they saw the old-school arcade games in the waiting room they were completely sold. All of the staff members were friendly. The dental assistants were especially great with the kids. Everyone made sure to ask me if I had any questions before moving on to the next thing. They also kept checking in with the boys to make sure they were comfortable. My kids were able to be seen together in the same room, and it only took about 20-25 minutes for X-rays, cleaning, and an exam with the dentist (who was also great with them). The boys loved laying back watching a movie on the ceiling tvs, and they got to choose prizes and balloon puppies, flowers, or swords. Very nice clean place that I obviously recommend.

The staff was so sweet and patient. It was my 18 month olds first dentist visit and they were exceptionally nice and understanding when he was less than cooperative 😅 absolutely recommend. We love this dentist! They make the kiddos feel comfortable. The office is welcoming to the kids, they have games and books in the waiting area, and when exiting they kids get a coin to get a prize from their bending machines. The hygienist was very nice, the dentist already knew my questions when he walked into the office to check my daughter's teeth. They are awesome.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Today I visited Just Kids for my daughter's dental check-up. All nurses and staffs were super kind. Also, I could get good advices for the dental home care to my daughter. The animation shows from the ceiling and toys were kids friendly, so I could distract my daughter from crying.

For the last couple of years we have been trying to find a pediatric dentistry for my son where he feels comfortable and finally found the right one! After our visit at Just Kids, my 10 year old said he wants to come back and see Dr. Bryan. I was surprise to hear him say that because Charlie does not like the dentist!
